Summary

SoSport project is to promote the social role of sport, with a special focus on human rights. The HEPA recommendations and the WHO Global Action Plan on Physical Activity 2018-2030 are the reference documents.Coaches, instructors, guides, teachers and educators have a different approach to the sport, depending from their rule. While technical aspects, training sequences, rules and other aspects are well known and described in the literature, the social rule of sport is often announced in declarations, laws, rules or documents but became just a general background of the activity. The educational function of sport about the development of active citizenship skills and respect of human rights, needs an oriented training for coaches, instructors, teachers and volunteers. An oriented training needs resources, tools, techniques and methodologies.Starting from the experience of the coordinator UPKL in training social sport coaches and HEPA stakeholder, the project will create resources using the methodology of action-research. Resources will be accessible as open source.A phase of local analysis of needs will define the starting level of the project.Tools created and tested in local situations, working with selected target groups, including groups of persons with special needs. Strategies of SoSport are:Promote Hepa recommendations and EU right lines in the field of sport, starting from a network of partners active in martial arts. Martial arts are widely practiced at all levels of age and social context, as competition or leisure. Martial arts are specially practiced in disadvantaged social context, no special equipment is required to practice. The mix of physical contact, self-control and strong rules makes from martial arts an ideal field to develop the project. The diffusion of Martial arts will help the process of dissemination through bodies and associations. The strategies and tools developed during the project can be used or applied in other sport activities.
